To Moon or not to Moon
Edited on Wed Sep-15-10 12:55 PM by Ricochet21
I tell ya, after so many Moons, I have been shocked to really see over and over how there are basically two types of birth charts.

1. One where the Moon is not singled out or predominate
2. One where the Moon plays a very significant role

It is very difficult to discern whether your Moon is 1 or 2.
A strong Moon can be in a powerful conjunction with significant planets in the chart. It can be at the handle of a bucket pattern. It can be in very strong aspect to another planet or close to one of the angles, ascendant, descendant, midheaven or nadir. There are many ways it can stand out.

Moon people, or lunar people, are not guided
by their intellect. They are clearly led by their feelings.

It matters not what sign your Moon is in.

I can't tell you have many ergs I have put forth trying to TALK to people with very powerful Moons. In many ways, I could have saved a lot of my breath.

Lunar people WANT TO FEEL BETTER, they don't care what you SAY, they just want you to find some magic and fix it!
Mommy!

Type 1's are much more reasonable and can put themselves in context.

Look at your Moon and the charts of you close friends and family. Concentrate on the Moon's position. The Moon in all of our charts tells us the degree that we are CANCERIAN. These are Cancer energies I am talking about.

I don't make generalizations very easily, a chart construct has to show itself to me over and over again - I find this one almost worthy of a whole book.

There is some magic to Lunar people. All of a sudden, one day, with no warning, no one can explain why, they just are READY to transcend the Moon's grip. I don't know why. Amazing.

:hi:

edit: added aspects

1. Hmmm.... I can see this. Yes. Very interesting!
Edited on Wed Sep-15-10 01:06 PM by I Have A Dream
You know that we're each going to ask you whether we're lunar or not; don't you?

I pretty much know that I am since it's quite close to my Neptune. I hope that I've transcended its grip. I'm trying. When I master this, I think that I'll have overcome one of my biggest life lessons -- maintaining balance.

:hi:

On edit: ...and just because someone has to do it:

2. That was a bad moon rising
of course, I know people will want to know. I'll do what I can
Yes, your close proximity to Nep/asc makes it very powerful

I don't think you need to struggle with it actually,
I've observed that it just releases "on it's own"
I don't know why
It's all about family, emotions and all that good stuff

:hi:

3. I think that this "energy" can also help us to have empathy for others.
We understand others' discomfort and want to help them to feel safe, etc. I guess that it could also cause us to be enablers if we're not careful.

skeptics think this is the big "gotcha" with astrology.

Astronomers "spring" changes every year, as she said
Astologer adjust spring every year to be on the equinox

Astrology is realtive, Astronomy is scientific.
Her Sidereal astrology is used in India

they are two different systems

15. I thought you may want to jump in....

but then again, I can understand why that would be a waste of energy. ;)

18. It's not a waste of energy
it's very hard to understand and easily confuses new students. THey are two different system.
Each works, but by no means does the Sidereal system represent your "real sign" :hi:

5. Pardon a semi-tangent (it seems to be my nature)

The moon is obviously important in astrology, but I can tell you that it is "dead". I don't perceive a consciousness or conscious energy related to the physical object, quite unlike other objects and phenomenon in our system. A shaving of moon rock over at Los Angeles' Griffith Observatory exhibits no energy whatsoever, it is null, the first null energy I'd encountered (not shielded or bent, just empty).

Might its influence be mainly gravitivic, which of course is powerful in itself, or am I missing something and need to look again? I ask because these things are new places where I haven't previously seriously sought information (and now am finding it to be so extremely important). Thanks for any insight...

6. Ooo...ooo...ooo -- raises hand!
I'd like to hazard a guess and see if I'm even close.

I'd say that the physical object has very little to do with it beyond its position in the sky. It's an energy inside of you. It's not external.

Rick? Pass or fail? :hide:

19. Hmm, chicken-and-egg stuff, huh?
Per Rick's description of Chiron and how it relates to us, in that if you have the same energies/issues, you will have a strong relationship with it and work to do; I can get that, and just wasn't ready for something so very large, so very near, and so very dead to have any influence beyond the physical/molecular. Chiron and Pluto aren't physical giants, but wow, what power, what influence. Amazing.

Okay, I'll shut up and try to learn something now :hi:

20. Keep it up FWWM
I'm still learning tons of stuff.
It has nothing to do with the physical dimensions of said planet. It's still driving me nuts, it's a quantum thing, not physical.
Yet, the physical reflects it. Such as, Uranus rolls on its side, not like the others which are upright?!

I'm JUST LEARNING THIS: the Moon is just about everything in some charts, many charts
It has awesome impact IMHO

I'm still working on not being an utterly selfish coward, so it should be obvious where the moon lies in my chart

11. Of course it is a dead rock
but the critical thing is that it reflects the Sun's light :hi:

That's one reason Cancer or Lunar people can be so "dependent" on others :hi:

14. speaking from a counterexample of one I think you oversimplify
It would be difficult to construct a more prominent, more powerfully aspected moon than my own. Yet I'm very unlike a Cancer -- I'm far more the intellectual as opposed to the emotional, as might be expected from a chart that is very nearly "dry" (with exactly one generational planet in a water sign). I'm someone with a *gemini* moon, accent on Gemini, not on moon.

It always comes down to the totality of a chart, and not any one component or placement.

16. I guess I must be type #2
I have the moon conjunct the sun in Sagittarius, in the fourth house, trine my Jupiter in Aries, and sextile my Mars and Saturn in Libra.

?t=1284736471

Here is my own personal interpretation of this energy:

My favorite personal possession of my whole life is my 32' RV. I bought it when I was transferred to Denver for a year. I absolutely hate apartment living, and I ended up living in the motorhome for 5 years, until I bought my sticks-and-bricks home I now have. I now use the motorhome for camping at festivals, about 4 or 6 times a year. I just LOVE traveling in my own home, with its full kitchen and bath! How about that for blending Sagittarian and Cancerian energies?
