true raven story, happened this morning

on his way to class my co-student, Frank, was forced to stop for a group of ravens standing in the middle road refusing to move out of the way of the car. He stopped and saw that they surrounded a fellow raven who had been hit by a car. While Frank sat there waiting for them, they nudged their friend to get off the road, huddled around and helping him the whole way.

The injured raven's wing may be broken -- he said it was tucked at his side, but not quite the right angle to be flush with his body -- so don't know what his chances are. But the way the rest of his flock behaved...if they feed and protect him, and his wing is able to heal...

Frank said he's never seen anything like it. He was just amazed at the sight....as am I at the story!

And those of us who appreciate ravens know they are very intelligent and have a capacity for understanding that many don't understand.

I am always impressed by these beautiful birds... I pray that the injured one will be cared for by his tribe and live to thank them ;)
