A GREAT weekend for our animal rescue group
We went into this weekend's adoptathon not expecting much. It was, after all, a holiday weekend and we expected everyone to be at the beach or lake.

Boy were we wrong! We had 12 dogs and 2 cats adopted from the adoptathon and another 7 dogs and cats adopted from our website.

My personal favorite, Ginny Lynn was adopted. I love that dog and would have taken her if I didn't already have five of my own. Since I couldn't take her I made it my goal to find a home for her and she went to a new home with a retired couple who had lost their 15 year old dog just two weeks prior. They fell in love with her and I know she'll be well cared for.

This was a good weekend.

3. where did you get all the Chinese crested?
Never seen them before. Guess there's not an active Chinese Crested rescue organization! (I used to know people involved in the -- I kid you not -- Dachshund Underground -- dachshund rescue organization)

And all the dachshund/spitz mixes got adopted! (my friend at the AZ Humane Society says the little guys are easier to place)

4. The chinese cresteds were just added today.
I don't really know where they came from but it's very rare for us to get any purebred dogs. In the last six months I can only think of the pekingese that was adopted this weekend and the chinese cresteds. I always thought of chinese cresteds as "naked" or hairless dogs but apparently the powderpuff version has long hair and is relatively rare. I don't expect them to be with us long. But that's what we're here for...

6. That's awesome! Adoptions in this part of Florida are VERY slow
right now. Our last adoptathon was a success, but my group only sent 1 dog to a new home as a result of it (we don't do same-day adoptions). It was well worth it, as she was a hard case and she's in a wonderful home now.
