My experience with a feral cat who had kittens in my basement
Here are some pics of a Mommy cat that I brought into my basement a couple of winters ago. I was feeding a bunch of feral cats in myb ackyard. It was very cold and there was a lot of snow. I noticed that one of the most friendly cats was pregnant. I got her to come into my basement, knowing that as far as I was concerned, her outdoor days were over.
A week later she had 5 kittens. I kept them all there for 8 weeks, until there were old enough to go to the Humane Society and be neutered and spayed.
I setup a sort of playground for them in the basement apartment. It was an amazing experience. I did almost nothing but sit and watch them all day.
The Mommy and all the babies had surgery, tests and shots. Every one was in A1 condition.(Thank goodness, and good Mothering on the part of Mommy Cat).
The one male kitten went to a friend of a friend nearby. He is now called Bandit. The Mommy(Sophie) and the Grey and White(Agatha) and all Black(Esme) now own a very good friend of mine. The two remaining black and white females(Cassie and Polly) are now part of my family.

This was the next morning after she gave birth..

As they grew and played..
This is the maze I constructed for them and the seat I sat on to watch them for hours.

Here are Agatha and Esme

Old enough to come out and play with me

all eating solid food together with Mom

This is Cassie and Polly now

kitties that I adore.
I know that my friend who took the Mommy and 2 babies considers herself truly blessed. She laughs every day as something those babies do!
