1. What a bitch!
I knew there was a reason I could never stand that woman.

2. Oh please. That story does not seem credible AT ALL!
Edited on Fri Apr-08-05 10:47 PM by Coventina
Even assuming that the basic outline of the story (that Madonna gave up her dogs) is true it does not make her guilty of abuse or neglect!

If she felt she could not adequately care for the dogs, then giving them up may very well have been acting in their best interest. If someone else failed them, it is on THAT PERSON'S head, not Madonna's!

Madonna has always stood up for progressive causes and I SERIOUSLY DOUBT that she is pro-animal abuse.

on edit: The photo and caption comes from some rag called "In Touch Weekly" which looks like a cross between People and The Star. Also, the "story" is not even taken from that publication, but from a purported shelter volunteer who gives her first name only. It contains misspellings and pathetic grammar. It's made to look like it was an article from the In Touch Weekly, and is therefore DELIBERATELY deceptive.

I completely reject this story as having ANY credibility whatsoever, based on the evidence presented.

3. Agreed completely.
If a rescue organization approves someone for a pet, and that person later abuses the pet, is it the organizations fault or the person that actually abused the animal?

To try to blame Madonna for the actions of others is ridiculous.

4. My first thought was
this is someone using madonna's name to sell a story.

We ought to be irritated with celebs like Paris Hilton for contributing to this craze that young ladies have to carry around a small cute dog as an accessory. And then they dump 'em when they can't handle them anymore.

5. Not too incredible...

"Even assuming that the basic outline of the story (that Madonna gave up her dogs) is true it does not make her guilty of abuse or neglect!"

Which may be why the story doesn't make that accusation. If it's substantially true, though, even I agree with its real point: "Madonna should be ashamed."

I have little patience for people who "get rid of" inconvenient dogs. Madonna could certainly have afforded a full-time dog-sitter to take care of the obligation that became too onerous, and my guess is that her spacious home had room for her dogs.

I don't want to believe that she'd be so callous.

6. I initially thought. . .
that this site was a take-off on greyhound rescue organizations. I'm not sure now, it looks kinda legit. Weird, but legit.

7. Never liked that woman anyways
Sure she'll do the same thing to her kids when they're no longer fashionable too.

8. Never been a Madonna fan
I have no trouble believing this is true. As far as standing up for progressive causes - there appear to be many who devalue animals around here (discussion forum).

9. If you get an animal, you keep it until it dies. Would you give away
a baby or drop it on the street? Animals are souls given to lucky people to care for and love. Keep them until they die and take care of them. I don't have a problem believing this either. Having kids and using it as an excuse to dump dogs? What a sow.
