I lost my darling Gideon this past Wednesday. Here's his story:

I'm very sad, and Misty is just as sad, I think. She'd been wandering around the house crying for her "pillow" (he always let her sleep on or against him) most of the day (and she's usually asleep about 22 hours a day). I finally put one of my stuffed Eeyores down on her favorite sleeping spot; she curled up against it and went to sleep.

I just wish I had an Eeyore big enough for me.

furbabies. It is so difficult when we see our other furbabies yearning for them.

your heart, doesn't it? I had to have my dear, beloved cat, Tiny, put to sleep on Wednesday, too. He was my dear companion for 16 years and I'll miss him forever. Peace to you and your family.

...it never gets any easier to part with our babies, but at least we get the pleasure of their company while they're around. I'd rather have the sorrow of their passing than to not have the happiness of their presence.

10. I very much appreciate all of your expressions of sympathy...

...and I wanted to add Gideon's story (the original link was too old to work, I think). Here's a cut-and-paste version from the original post last February:

"My Gideon's just had his second surgery to remove a tumor (first was last June). The vet says 90% of the time this cancer recurs, and usually quickly. I'm looking for that 10%.





This is Gideon, Misty and Gabe after being plied with catnip. Gideon is expressing his opinion about having to wear the STUPID SHIRT!"

The DU pet community is the best group of pro-critter people I know. I'm sure I'll end up with another cat at some point (probably sooner than later: three is just a good number for my household) and I'll be sharing pictures...

And what a nice cat to let you put that shirt on him!

I had to put my cat Max to sleep back in November 2002, and I still think of him almost every day. He was 17 years old at the time, and lived a good life but I was miserable for a few weeks.

They take all the love you gave them with them, and they leave behind all the love they gave you.

You'll meet again someday.

I'm sending good thoughts your way that you find comfort and peace soon.

(I think getting another cat is a great idea, I adopted Grace from the shelter, I think she was a present from Max, and now have another cat that was tossed outside when he was just a couple of months old to endure a cold (20 degree) night on his own. A neighborhood kid rescued him and brought him to us, because he knew we'd lost our cat.)
