Oh boy, took my Rottie to her vet today for a grooming.
In the summer, I can just take her outside and wash her under the hose, but the weather is too cold now for that and she was beginning to smell like a dog.

Anyway, the vet informed me that she was overdue for her vaccines. I hadn't thought about it because she has a 3-year rabies vaccine, which expires in April '06 and I figured she wouldn't need the other shots until then.

She also was shaking her head, which means that she has an ear infection that she often gets. Well, I originally took her for a grooming and ear examination and medication. After all the examinations, heartworm test, shots, medications and grooming, the total bill was $297.86.

I have pet insurance, but only the vaccinations are covered. Oh well, maybe I will be able to recover about $50.

1. The local humane society in Athens charges $10 for 3 year rabies shots.
I get the FRCP vaccines and syringes for my cats at the feed store. You can order worm testing kits for cats and dogs online. I have 3 cats so I try so save as much as possible at the vet.
