Louisiana abandoned animals' situation still grim....

This is horrible-- the state of La. is blocking effort of volunteers to contain the problem w/ mass spay-neuter of remaining animals still surviving -- to prevent even worse disaster... It just makes me wanna cry- why cant humans agree on any gd dmn thing. youd think welfare of animals would be something that could be agreed upon. But no, sounds like some kind of turf war between the local SPCA and "out of state" folks.

Anyway, there are phone #s here to call (Gov. Blanco's and others) ... and Im wondering if anyone has been there recently to work w/ the animal rescue programs and can report first hand...?

I'm thinking I want to go to help for a week or 2... the animal rescues are expecting to continue work into January... but Im torn because there is so much I could do here in my own backyard... or anywhere for that matter... it is just so overwhelming sometimes all that needs to be done...
