Another cat peeing/spraying problem..
Here is the culprit:

I got him July 5th of this year from a Sphynx rescue so I really dont know all the details behind his whole life. They estimate him about being 1-2 years old.

I have 2 other cats.

I have had him at the vet and they tested him for everything and came back that he has reflux since he throws up and its either green or clear liquid.

Every morning there is a poo waiting for me in my living room and shortly after hes peeing right infront of my tv. I also occasionally catch him spraying in my upstairs hallway corner.

I havent changed anything, the litter boxes are downstairs and I know I need to put another one upstairs. He's the only one whos doing this and I have no idea why and the vet cant come to anything other than I need yet another litter box.

I sprayed his spots with everything and anything and he still goes there. You name it I tried it.

They're on Science Diet Ocean Fish and I have it out all day for them and always clean water.

Anyone have any new advice? Should I take him to another vet for a 2nd opinion? All the tests came back negative/clear.

1. Pad Thai laid a poo outside the box on one occasion
I was on a business trip for 3 days. I came back and there it was. I think he was angry at me. My friend who was staying at my apartment (the cats knew and liked her) said the cats stopped eating when I went away. Needless to say, I never travel.

Does your latest kitty get along well with the others? Is he jealous of the baby? Anything else that might be bothering him?

3. Theres nothing that I know of that would be bothering him..
He gets along with the other two pretty well. My female Sphynx likes to grab him by the neck and wrestle him down but then they run around like lunatics playing. So I dont know whats could be bothering him.

4. I seen that..
I'll switch flavors. Although last time I did that my calico showed her dislike and whipped the bowl off of my counter

5. Well, I'd get him off that diet.
It must be dry if you're leaving it out all day? He might have a tummy ache from all the junk they put in the food. Switch to a high-quality canned (like Wellness) and see if that improves him.

We have 2 Abyssinians who had IBD and one of them was pooping and peeing on the rug until we changed them to a raw food diet. The pooping stopped and then the girl was peeing on the sofa until we changed the kitty litter to unscented clumping (we had been using pellets). Now they're all happy. Phew!

Good luck!

6. Wellness? Where do I find that at?
Can I get it at petsmart? The local pet food place has Nutro (nitro??) so I get my food at petsmart. It is dry food that I leave out all day so they can eat at will.

I use those Tidy cat crystals as their litter. The odd thing is that my other two arent bothered by things.. Prince seems to be highly sensitive. Hes such a sweet cat too.

7. Do you have Whole Foods?
That's where they have it here. I haven't looked at Petsmart or Petco. We get our raw food through the mail.

There's a lot of great info on feeding your cat at www.catinfo.org. That saved my cats' lives, no kidding.

Yeah, sometimes you get cats that are a little more sensitive. We have two cats who can eat anything and will use any litter. They're the "mutts" of the bunch. But the Abys are extremely sensitive.

I don't know what Tidy Cat crystals are, but if it's not unscented clumping, you might have room for improvement. There's kitty box info on that website, also.

8. The closest whole foods is about 2 hours from here :(
I'd love to do all my shopping there but it is just way too far for me to go.

Abys are such beautiful cats. I heard they're very stuck up attitude wise! My female Sphynx is the social butterfly whereas my male Sphynx would rather sit on top of the aquarium and watch. My Calico just sleeps all day :)

Tidy Cat Crystals arent your 'traditional' litter, its made up of a bunch of crystals that I dont know what they're even made of. Very good at odors and absorbs the pee rather than clumping. I might have to try switching back to regular clumping litter and see how he does with that.

I'm not sure if hes doing it because hes mad about something, lazy to go downstairs, or actually has a problem that the vet missed.

9. That's too bad.
But at least get him off dry food. He could have something going on that isn't showing up on the tests yet. Dry-fed cats are chronically dehydrated, no matter how much they drink -- they just can't drink enough. That's very hard on their kidneys.

catinfo.org lists other canned food that is good. You might want to check it out for other brands that might be available at Petsmart.

You heard wrong about Abys ... well, they ARE beautiful. But they are also extremely affectionate, just a little shy with strangers. They purr so hard that they "splash". :)

The vet who owns catinfo.org doesn't think crystals are a good thing. She has a very good argument -- if it absorbs the pee, they're actually walking in their own pee every time they walk into the box. With the clumping litter, all the pee ends up in the clumps and they only walk on clean litter. I like Dr. Elsey's (from Petsmart).

I hope you'll look at that website. It has a lot of good info and she is an excellent veterinarian.

10. Well - the Vet may have a point......
maybe it is as simple as getting another litterbox.

I have one cat who is chronically constipated. it took me a while to figure out that that was why he pooped on the rug at least once a week. it turned out that was the only day he was pooping.

I also have another cat who is hyperthyroid - he poops pretty regularly but for a while there he was pooping on the litter mat just outside his box it seems nearly everyday.

Wellit turns out my hyperthyroid kitty was too big for the litterbox i had for them, and the second box was jsut not comfortable.

so i made soem new ones out of rubbermaid storage boxes.

I haven't had problems since - apparently what my cats needed for both their problems were spacious non-stinkty boxes that allowed soem privacy.
