I won a pet photo contest!
I posted about this in the Photo group but since the subject of the contest was "pets," I thought I would share here too.

I won in the "action" category. This was a contest put on by a local pet rescue group. My photo will be featured in this month's issue of a local Coffee house magazine. These are the two photos I submitted. I'm not sure which one won as they didn't tell me. I guess I'll be surprised when the magazine comes out. My Natasha is locally famous ;-) .

5. Yup! That's my Air Tasha!
Last night I was flicking the ball to her from the couch. She was standing on the ottoman next to me and I'd try to get it over her head but she'd jump up and get it no matter how high I tossed it. One time she got up over, well it had to be over 6' off the ground. She crash landed on the floor so I had to cool it. She sometimes gets so high off the ground that she forgets she has to land. I have to be the mom and not throw it too high. :-)

:hi: Jen!

9. I really think Tasha and Puck were cut from the same cloth
Puck does the same thing! She's landed in some awful ways, the worst being on her back on to of the iron foot board of my bed! Makes moms nervous for their furkids!

10. Yup, little Tom-boys.
See what she did one time when she played too rough

She acted like nothing happened after. I was horrified! She ran into a stucco wall while chasing a ball. Tough little girl.

11. Ouch! Poor Tasha!
I would have been mortified too!

My, but she IS a beauty, even with a nasty scrape!

6. Natasha just picked it up
my last Border Collie mix would go get the Frisbee but then just keep running with it and eventually lie down and start chewing on it.

When I got Tasha last year, it was a package deal - her and her brother Boris. They were already 18 months old and I think their former owner must have only played with Boris as Tasha would just sort of tag along behind him, sometimes grabbing on to him, whenever we played ball. One day I decided to introduce the Frisbee into the game and at first she wasn't interested - still just wanted to run along behind Boris (old habits die hard I guess). Eventually she saw me tossing the Frisbee around and decided to investigate. She took to it in seconds and now would rather play Frisbee than eat or anything else. And she is just amazing to watch. People in the park stop what they are doing to watch her. She's just so graceful and absolutely soars! Boris can catch them but he just sort of does a little hop and never really gets off the ground. It's so sad when I think that all Tasha's talent might have gone completely undiscovered.

7. Thanks!
Isn't it amazing how that's all they want to do? Tasha really would rather play fetch (with anything) than eat. She is relentless too. Always putting toys in my hand and never wants to quit.

8. I have hundreds of photos of her in the air but
you're right, that was a particularly good moment. She looks so natural, like she was born to do that.
