Yahoo news won't refresh - most of front page too
I put this in the Lounge yesterday and I got no answers. Also, I noticed that my mail preview updates, my Lotto numbers are from Jan, The TV listings won't list and the cartoons are old. I wrote to yahoo and they told me to clean the cache and cookies and blah blah blah, but it didn't help.

Here is my post from yesterday:

All of the news stories on my Yahoo front page are from a month ago on my computer here at work. It was like that yesterday too, but at home it was fine.

I cleared the cache, but it did nothing. I use Firefox, but I even tried it in IE and they still came up a month old.

Like I said, this is a work computer and our dept. just got them a few weeks ago. I have a feeling the IT dept. installed some crap on here because it take 15-20 minutes both to save my settings and load my settings when I reboot. That doesn't seem normal.

Any ideas? About either the one month old stories or the 1/2 hour reboots?

1. Talk to your IT people (make them watch as you reboot)..

If they don't fix it talk to management. The computer is screwed, you are screwing your employer by not getting this fixed (I assume your computer is a vital part of your job). Sitting for 30 minutes is bullshit for you and the person that writes your checks. If you didn't install any extra crap this isn't your problem. If you did, un-install and roll the dice.

Edit: damn... scroll down a bit and I find this:

I think yahoo has some problems they need to fix.

2. This is weird ...
In a 24 hour period, I've seen three separate threads on DU alone about this, two of them in this group. I've seen other questions about it in other places. What's more, I saw and replied to a thread about Yahoo being slow. At the time I did so, I thought I was giving appropriate commentary, but upon reflection I'm not so sure. All these problems with Yahoo all at once indicate a trend.

I suggested in a previous thread that the person delete the cache. Try that first. If that doesn't work, I would normally suspect there is something with your network that is causing this, but all these problems with Yahoo from different people on different systems might indicate a different sort of issue, the nature of which I can't guess right now.

My Yahoo homepage is working as it always has ... a bit slow, but updated. Let us know what happens.

3. I, too, was having Yahoo problems
in that period of time. I don't do Yahoo News but my mail was really glitchy. I'd be writing to someone and, poof, it would just disappear and suddenly, "Page not found". So I've been staying away from it for a bit. So, I thought these other people's comments were indicative of it just being a Yahoo thing, not personal. Well, hope everyone is working better now.

4. My Yahoo homepage never updated the Sunday comics.
This happens occasionally. I think it's just a Yahoo problem.
