I have a website for my business that I built with a program called Website Complete, which I purchased through Go Daddy, who are hosting my site.
A few weeks ago, I had to run a recovery disk on my laptop because of a virus. I backed up all my website files to a CD, and then when after running the recovery disk, I downloaded Website Complete again and downloaded my back up files from the CD. It looked like everything was working out, but when I tried updating my website and publishing it to the internet, it kept timing out as soon as I hit "publish."
I tried several things, including disconnecting my firewall, but nothing worked. I've been on the phone with Go Daddy several times and we've tried everything, and they told me there is nothing that can be done. The guy told me it was a problem between Windows and Website Complete.
So my first question is, what could this problem be? Is there anything I can do in Windows to fix the problem?
Then my next question is, if I decide that I want to build a complete new Website, without Website Complete and without Go Daddy, what is the easiest way to go about it?
I do have Dreamweaver on my computer, but I have no idea how to use it. I would love to hire somebody to do it, but I really can't afford it now.
