Just got this on my wife's XP Pro system"

She is running 1G of memory only.
Time to replace with new and more?
Would this possibly help?

thanks

1. 1 Gb of memory is plenty for XP.
Is this happening every time you try to boot?
Can you get into safe mode?

2. It's random...I can boot...also:

Checked it for virus (AVAST) and malware (MalwareBytes).

3. Get Memtest
http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
Burn to CD and boot from it to test memory.

4. Run Memtest, as Hobbit suggests
I recommend running a full disk/file system check on boot.

1. >My Computer. Right click on C drive select properties.
2. Select Tools tab
3. Select Error checking, dialogue box will give you two options (check & fix), select both
4. Click start, another dialoge box asking if you want to schedule disc check for next restart.

Reboot and you should get file & disc check. It could take a long time to run.

5. Ran a "check and fix" on the HD

It fixed something.
Hasn't crashed yet. So far so good.
