Question about watching live feeds on computer.
Is it normal for the feeds to stop, pause, repeat a few seconds of segments? I noticed this the last few days on AlJazeera and other sites. Happens frequently on YouTube too.
Thanks

1. Yep, it's normal
Al Jazeera particularly, these last few days has been very busy and much of the time I find the live feed too jerky to watch.

You can avoid this with YouTube and other non-live online videos. Watch the bar at the bottom with the moving time marker. Ahead of the marker you will see a dull red bar growing. That is the indicator of how quickly the video is loading. Some are faster than others. When the time marker catches up to the loaded video, you will get stops and starts while it catches up to itself.

Just pause the video and wait until it is almost fully loaded before starting it again, then you can watch uninterrupted. This is called 'buffering'. With Firefox, you can have several tabs open with videos buffering on them, to watch at your convenience.

2. Al Jazeera's been really overloaded due to the Egyptian revolution.
Unfortunately, it's normal given the conditions. There are some mirrors that are available, and linked to from Al Jazeera's web site - LiveStation and Youtube are both streaming Al Jazeera right now, so you might want to try those.
