How do I, once and for all, remove Double-Click???
Often when I search something on Google and then click on a link, this thing called "DoubleClick" redirects me to a different page.

I have never had such a problem removing something from my computer before. I googled for solutions, and there are so many different troubleshooting methods out there to try to remove it, that I feel overwhelmed. A lot of them involve long, complicated processes. That's fine, but I don't want to have keep gambling with all these long, complicated ideas and spend hours on them only to come up short.

Incidentally, this has only affected my Firefox browser (which I prefer so much more than IE). So, I looked for a fix on Firefox, and installed an extension that is supposed to stop the redirects. It solved the problem but now I have even more problems (can't sign into YouTube, for instance).

Can anyone suggest a way to permanently remove this DoubleClick thing???? Please make my day!

1. Install adblock plus 1.2 for firefox
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/
Then go here http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
And install the hosts file. No more ads No more problems

2. Along with Berserker's advice, install SpywareBlaster.

SpywareBlaster can help keep your system secure, without interfering with the "good side" of the web. And unlike other programs, SpywareBlaster does not have to remain running in the background. It works alongside the programs you have to help secure your system.

3. NoScript for Firefox.
It's a little heavy-handed at times, but it makes AdBlock look like a colander.

4. Following on from Darkstar3's post
I suspect that the Firefox add-on you installed was probably NoScript and it's blocking videos and YouTube.

Look at the very bottom right of your Firefox window. Is there a blue letter 'S' with a red stop sign in front of it?
If there is, go to YouTube then right click on this 'S' icon and allow YouTube.

In this way, you build up a White List of trusted sites.

5. Download the HOST file from here
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Those add on for FireFox are a nuance and more trouble than they are worth.

Quite often you can right click on the ads and get their URL which you can then add to your host file. Delete anything after the .com

You can set FireFox to reject DoubleClick's cookies.
