Laptop power adapter question
My power adapter developed a short, so I bought a new, universal power adapter. The old one was 70 watts, the new one is 90 watts. I do have the option of setting different voltages, but I'm concerned about the different in watts. Is it something to worry about? Thanks.

1. Power adapters are basically voltage sources

More wattage means that it can supply more power (watts = voltage x amps). The load is what determines the amount of power drawn from the supply.

The important thing is that 1) it's set to supply the correct voltage and 2) that it can supply the same (or more) power.

You should be fine.

2. The voltage is what you care about as long as the wattage on your new supply
is greater than the original. If the replacement has a wattage rating lower than your original part, then you probably will have problems.
