I'm back again, and just as dumb ...........
Please help, if you can -

I'm in the process of removing a Firefox extension that Microsoft snuck in a while back, and I'm dong all right, following these instructions:

http://annoyances.org/exec/show/article08-600

But - and I feel REALLY stupid now - I can't figure out what "Windows Explorer" is in Step 9.

I'll just sit here, praying my rosary, and hoping for the best.

Thank you.

<curtsy>

1. Open Start menu..................
Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 05:20 PM by CrownPrinceBandar
go to "All Programs", then "Accessories", then look towards the bottom of the list, it should be there.

edit: I'm using XP.

2. Me, too!
And there it is! Thank you.

Now, if I may push your good nature a bit more, can you tell me how I "navigate to %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\Windows Presentation Foundation"?

Is it under "extensions"?

And, thanks................

3. %SYSTEMDRIVE% usually means your C: drive
So you'd want to navigate to C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\Windows Presentation Foundation using My Computer.

5. Absolutely perfect..........
Thank you very much. You got it exactly right, and now my Firefox addons say that the Microsoft NET thing is no longer there.

I cannot thank you enough.

This forum knocks me out............

10. Just so you know...
Microsoft .NET Framework is required for some applications. If you're still using whatever it was that needed .NET (.NET Framework is not related to the internet, or connecting to the internet, I should add), you'll probably have to install the .NET Framework again if and when you try to run the whatever-it-was.

4. You might want to try doing a search w/in Windows explorer.............
Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 05:42 PM by CrownPrinceBandar
using "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\Windows Presentation Foundation" as the search parameter.

I tried it and came up empty. But that makes sense because I don't have the latest service pack installed. I'm still using plain ol SP2 and .net version 2something, and I think this is an issue w/ SP3.whatever.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. But I'm sure someone here will shortly give you some good info.

edit: Evolve is correct. %SYSTEMDRIVE% is where Windows is installed.

7. Here's a helpful tip
Now that you know where to find Windows Explorer -- go back to where you found it and right click on it and choose "Send to Desktop" (or Create Shortcut) and then it will place an icon (of a manila folder) onto your desktop for easy access. I also place it in my Quick Launch portion of the taskbar.

9. No, no, no
We love you to come visiting Tangi. I'm just sorry I was at work and couldn't participate in your thread

Another (lazy bastard's)way of magicking up Windows explorer is to right click on any old folder and second from the top is 'Explore'.

11. Hahah, that's a good tip, but
try doing that on your Windows Explorer folder! lol

(I know, I know, it's an icon not a folder)

Still it was funny (to me)

12. You are so damn funny....
I have NO ideas to offer regarding your question, but just wanted to say that every time I see your name I instantly smile, because chances are awfully good I'm going to get a chuckle if I click on your post.

You sure you didn't write for "Boston Legal"?

:)
