Am having problems loading videos using Firefox and IE.
The problem began happening over a week ago. Usually, I watch videos from DU, but will occasionally wander over to YouTube or another website. The same thing happens everywhere. A couple of seconds of the video will load, then everything freezes. If I try click on anything (for example, to make it play instead of staying stuck in pause mode)the whole screen gets very light and the only way I have been able to close the program (Firefox or IE) is thru Task Manager. Seems like there were lots of upgrades occuring at the same time...Firefox, Windows, all of which I enabled. At about the same time, the Google Sidebar showed up on my desktop. Coincidence maybe?

As you can tell, I'm not tecky, but would appreciate any help from those of you who are.

Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1521, fairly new.

Happy New Year!!!

2. in bothew IE anmd Firefox go to this site:
www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome

It will tell you the version of flash and shockwave you are using, and give an indication if they are working or not.

Flash is different for both browsers, but shockwave is the same installation, which leads me to believe the problem lies there.

Adobe has a shockwave uninstaller, which you will probably need to run, followed by a re installation of the latest version.
