Not Sure WHERE To Post This, But I'm Having A Problem With My Comcast
connection. After I shut down my computer then try to boot up again, the COMCAST EMAIL PAGE appears and I have to sign in each and every time. It won't remember my name or password even when I click on the box that asks me if I want it to be remembered. Now I DON'T use Comcast as my Email Page, I use Outlook, but my HOME PAGE is Comcast, I just never changed it since I got Comcast. I DO plan to switch over after the election to a Verizon Bundle, but don't want any down time BEFORE the election. I've called Comcast about 7 times and told them about this and was FINALLY told that this was "for my protection" and ALL ISP's were doing the same thing.

What I want to know... Is This True??

ALSO, I have been doing a lot of campaign work for Obama and local candidates and I HAVE "caller ID" but yesterday I was actually talking to my daughter on the phone and instead of hearing the "beep" of an incoming call, the phone actually RANG and we got disconnected! Just like it rings if I was getting an incoming call when I'm NOT on it! Does ANYONE know what THAT means??? I have NEVER had that happen on ANY phone I've EVER had in my entire life, and I've had the SAME phone number for 24 years!

I realize this sounds like I'm paranoid or something, but back in 2004 and (THIS IS THE TRUTH) about a month before the election both my daughter and I always heard "beeps" on our phone when we would have conversations. AFTER the election, the beeps went away! We never pursued the issue because we actually figured it had SOMETHING to do with the election. Now, four years later just before another National Election, it seems to me that "funny" things are happening again.

Am I STOOOPPIIIDDD????

1. I can make an attempt here
On the first problem, it sounds like you have your browser configured to open the COMCAST email page when you first run it. If you change your homepage to the main Comcast page, it shouldn't prompt you for a password. Outlook or any other email client (program) should give you the ability to store your username and password. You may want to verify which page is configured under your user options in your browser.

On the telephone problem, if your telephone is ringing while off hook, it is receiving ringing voltage from someone else's line, which means there is a short in the cable somewhere. The electronic switch in the telephone office won't like that and will end your call, in some cases damaging the switching equipment (they are well protected against lightning and powerline crosses, though). If it becomes a hard enough short, you may also notice talk or humming noise on the line. I would definitely contact your telephone repair service on this one.

2. With Comcast... It's Figured Correctly... Checked That One Already
and it's set for home page. Even went over that with Comcast. They say they are changing things for "my" protection, but I say I should STILL get my home page instead of email page. I don't like Comcast, never have, but it was the only thing available until about 6 weeks ago. They have NEVER been very helpful when you call them.

The phone thing... well that one may be the answer. My husband worked for GTE before he retired, but is out of town right now. I'll have him check it out. Here in Florida it's all fiber optic so we'll probably have to have the line checked out. It was weird though, talking on a phone and having it ring while you are talking.

Thanks a lot.

3. I have Comcast and don't have that problem.
I use FireFox at home and IE at headquarters. Not a problem.

Your home page should show Welcome Guest in the upper left corner with options of Email, Voice Mail and Digital TV.

You are probably talking to some jerk that doesn't know squat about internet service. I've usually have good tech service when there is a problem.
