AVG blocking workgroup

Hi, all my home PC's are in the same workgroup. I have a laptop with AVG on it. My other PC's have another AV program (Trend that we use at work -- not sure if that matters or not).

Anyway, when AVG is on, the laptop cannot access other workgroup computers, and the other PCs can't access the laptop.

They can ping one another, but I get 'access denied' when trying to connect to shares.

Is this normal? I can't find a setting to override this.

1. AVG Internet Security or...

AVG Anti-Virus. Internet Security has a firewall. If you are running IS, you need to open up the NETBIOS ports on the firewall.

Free Edition. Like you said, there are no firwarewall settings apparently. It's strange.

3. It does sound like a firewall problem.

Have you checked the DNS settings on the firewall in the laptop?
