What are your favorite smoothie recipes?
I slice each banana, place each sliced banana in a sandwich bag and freeze.

Recipe:

Add one sliced frozen banana in the blender, add 1/3-1/2 cup of frozen mixed berries, 3 tbls. of vanilla yogurt, and 1 cup of orange juice in the blender, blend and voila---- a great smoothie.

You can top with a fresh strawberry and mint leave it you like.

1. using that recipe, if you have any problems with your joints or arthritis
add a bit of Knox gelatin and you'll be amazed how it helps rebuild old, tired joints

3. try about 1 TBSP per 12 oz of smoothie, you may want to add some

extra OJ or milk (or any liquid) since the Knox will try to "gel" the fruit.

5. Trader Joe's Smoothie
For 3 good size smoothies:

1 cup Trader Joe's frozen pineapple
1 cup Trader Joe's frozen Mango
2/3 cup vanilla yogurt
2 cups non fat milk (or juice)
3 Tablespoons Splenda (you can use honey or sugar or delete altogether)

Blend

You may need to adjust the liquid to the consistancy you like.

I sometimes add a half a cake of tofu or protein powder to enrich this.

6. do orange julius' count?
I love smoothies, but I think that's still my favorite. I haven't made one in years. I think I'll toddle downstairs & see if I have what I need.:)

7. It starts with a banana
Then it's whatever I have on hand: strawberries, mangoes, berries, peaches, nectarines pineapple

Orange juice

Powdered non fat dry milk

Plain yogurt

Oat or wheat bran (for extra fiber)

My local farmer's market sometimes has these bags of overripe fruit for a buck a bag. I buy these and chop them up to freeze and use those in my smoothies to chill as they blend. I am working through my mango and peach pile now....

8. First time I read this, I saw "vodka" instead of "voila,"
but it sounds good anyway! ;)

Sounds like a great way to get those fruit servings in without the fruit going bad before you get around to it.

9. don't forget the old purple cow!
Kids love it. Milk, undiluted grape juice concentrate, vanilla, ice cubes. Whirl.

10. Lassi, preferably mango.
I'm waiting for the weather to warm up, but very soon now....

My lassi recipe comes from Taj Mahal, the Indian restaurant we hit far too frequently. This makes 2 servings.

1 c. mango chunks
1 c. stirred plain yogurt
1/2 cup citrus or mango juice (works best with pineapple orange, but others work, too.)
2 T. honey
3-4 drops rose water (in mine, only. Mr. Pcat doesn't like the rosewater)

Blend until smooth. If a colder drink is wanted, use frozen mango, or add ice.

I really despise bananas, so they don't go in my smoothies. Whole Foods has a frozen fruit blend for smoothies (and Target-Archer Farms has a whole line of them) that we use on a regular basis when we're rushed for time. Mine usually have strawberries; the Mister's usually have raspberries or blackberries.

11. I love mango lassi
It's a must-have for me when we visit the Indian restaurant.

Thank you for the recipe. I will definitely make it.
