Frozen melon. What do I do with it?
My husband bought us an icebox melon as part of our Valentine's Day dinner. He put it in the freezer to rapid-chill it, then promptly forgot about it.

What do I do with it? Drill holes and go bowling?

2. Thaw it and eat it ...... but it won't last long after thawing .... so ...
Buy a nice DelMonte Gold pineapple and maybe some berries or citrus and make a fruit salad that is dinner sized.

4. And add apples and grapes to it, mix in some strawberry
yogurt as a poor man's gastrique, and you've got dinner, protein and all.

Do you have an ice cream freezer? you can thaw it and make a granita, add a little lemon juice, (or you can substitute a high acid juice), sugar and freeze to a crude slush, kind of like an ice. If you need a recipe, let me know....:toast:

8. oooh, bad memories
when my kid was small, I found this cutesy (in other words, regrettable) recipe for watermelon ice cream for a party.

Basically you soften raspberry sherbet, mix in chocolate chips, and pack it into a hollowed out watermelon shell and freeze it. It looks quite charming - and really just like a watermelon when it's sliced (at least in the photos).

Unfortunately, once the rind freezes as a solid chunk of ice, there is no way in hell you can slice it. A knife won't go through the solid ice, it's slippery, too cold to hold onto, if you wait for the rind to thaw, the ice cream will melt.

9. I think I'm going to stand on our picnic table
And drop this puppy to get inside.

I already had to get stitches this month from cutting myself in the kitchen. As a safety precaution, I'm going to avoid trying to cut a frozen-solid entire melon with my need-to-be-sharpened knives. Thanks for the tip.
