Wireless printing to Airport Express?
I have an Airport Extreme with a cable modem attached. It used to have a USB printer attached to it and it worked. I changed around my office and my way-to-big printer doesn't fit in the area where Airport Extreme is.

Is it possible to acquire an Airport Express and print through it with a second wireless connection? Meaning, the Powerbook would connect to the Airport Extreme for internet access and to the Airport Express for printing.

I thought I'd ask before purchasing the Airport Express or doing a work-around by getting a really long USB cable. I would like to pursue the wireless options before I start running cables -- which is so un-Apple.

1. An Airport Extreme and also an Airport Express?

Wow, that's overkill I think. How far is your printer now?

The USB cable is cheaper unless you manage to get an AExp on ebay for a lot cheaper.

A printer server for mac could help but might be at times they are more expensive than the AExpres. The one in the link is a Lynksis wireless and is more cheaper than the AExpre given that you only want to "print" and you have AExtreme. I guess you can shop around for a server.

2. The office is 10x12, if I put the printer in here. The printer is currently
across the hall in an empty dinning room at the moment. If OSX can have a conversation with 2 wireless hubs, I don't mind getting the appropriate Airport Express. I prefer this to running a cable, since I may move the printer to the room above the garage.

I just looked at Print & Fax in System Preferences for anything that would allow me to name a base station for it to send print jobs to, but didn't see anything.

I also looked at the Designing Airport networks PDF and the closest thing that I can find might be to name an Airport Express the same as my network and set it to be like a bridge.

Basically, I have 2 Macs, an HP 3500 Color Laser Printer, and an Airport Extreme/TimeCapsule. I remembered that I have a 54 Mbps Airport Express still in the box. It's not the "n" standard of Airport Extreme, so I don't know if I have to upgrade to an Airport Extreme of "n" standard so that it will work.

I more comfortable developing software than doing network setups, so I was hoping someone here could give some advice.

Price is not a factor -- at least for this -- if I can get my iMac, Powerbook, and the (Boot Camp) XP on the iMac all working with the Laser Printer. I'd spend the $$$ for the simplicity.
