how do i transfer my bookmarks etc from one emac to another

1. There are instructions for transferring bookmarks in the Help file

for your browser.

Basically, you create a file called Bookmarks, transfer it to your new computer (by disk or some sort of connection--cable or AirPort), and tell your new browser to import it during the setup procedure.

Your document and other files can be transported by AirPort, by cable, or by downloading them to a second disk (hard drive, Zip drive) and then transferring them again.

Programs should be reinstalled, though, because you can't just copy them from one hard drive to another.

3. Faith, if it's a new computer and you want to transfer all your settings..

...or if you just want to move bookmarks and things like that, use target disk mode after connecting the two computers with the firewire cable.

that is actually what i did

it ended up that this computer had not been used before so i was able to firewire all my old information and as im sure you know - it could not have been easier
i love macs and it was such a nice surprise to buy a "used" computer that had never been used before
