The Continuing Saga of Mavis.
Well, today is day seven.

My dad is attached, I am attached, and my mom is slightly attached but says she won't have two dogs. My poor father was actually in tears last night over it.

My parents have asked everyone they know. I have asked everyone I know who I feel is responsible enough to have her. As soon as people hear Pit Bull, they run screaming the other way. To make matters worse, the front page story on our rinky dink paper this morning was about vicious Pit Bulls.

I have called veterinarians. Tried posting her online at a Pit rescue site but they won't list her without proof of spay. That is in the hands of her owner who is relaxing at the beach with the kid that caused this - while we agonize over this dog.

Mavis is also attached. She is happy and comfortable in her new, albeit temporary home. How is it fair to rip her out of that home now? I am really stuck here. I will not give her to just anyone.

I am DESPERATE for a home. Veggies, if anyone can open their home to this wonderful girl, I will bring her to you. I need to find a home, and find one quick. My mom keeps mentioning a no-kill shelter, but how long will she have to live in a cage there??

What am I going to do??? I know I will end up with a broken heart over this.

Again, her photo:

1. I'm pledging $50 towards her spay.
If that rescue will help her, it's worth it to me.

Call American Bulldog rescue. Trust me, I've *ahem* moved a couple of them myself, and that's what she really looks like.

If you can PM me your locale, maybe I can drop a dime to some folks in your area. Otherwise, let's talk later this weekend. Maybe she has Florida in her future...

Either way, she's safe. Future uncertain, but she's not crossing The Bridge any time soon.

2. You are awesome...
Seriously. :yourock:

Mavis is already spayed, it is just that her owner has the proof of that and is out of town.

Knowing her, she won't have the papers. I am sure if she tells me which vet did the spay, I can get proof.

I will PM you........

Thanks again

You will have to register with them. Then put in a search for Pit Bull Rescue. Here is an example of one rescue group.

PARTNERS for PITS is an alliance of rescues, shelters, foster homes and other bully breed advocates dedicated to pit bull rescue and rehabilitation. The primary goal of this group is to help pit bulls in urgent need of rescue, transport and foster homes and get them to safety.

We also want to encourage everyone to share pit bull stories, ask and answer each other's questions and have discussions related to BSL and other pit bull related subjects. We can enjoy the group AND save our beloved bullys at the same time!

It is our hope to become a network that each of us can depend upon and trust for support and encouragement. We hope this group will unite us in our daily battle for this wonderful and very misunderstood breed.

5. I believe any vet can give a statement that she is spayed.
I will also help out w/ the vet bill. PM me if you need some help. My sister also has a Pit bull and he is the sweetest, most loving pooch. Caesar is his name and he loves all animals, children and humans. Mavis looks like a great dog. I have 4 rescued pooches.
