Center for Consumer Freedom Trumps PETA on Animal Shelter Contribution

PETA's Links To Domestic Terrorism Sink Their Standing In Yadkin County, North Carolina

Washington, DC - The Center for Consumer Freedom is contributing $15,000 toward construction of a new animal shelter in Yadkin County, North Carolina, after commissioners rejected a similar offer from People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) at a county commission meeting last month. The $15,000 offer from PETA was rebuffed by County Commissioner Brent Hunter, who led dissenters in rejecting the offer, in light of recent revelations that PETA has links to active domestic terror groups.

"While construction of the county animal shelter is a priority, I cannot, in good faith, accept an offer from a group like PETA when they support and finance groups that engage in arson, harassment and vandalism in the name of their political agenda," Hunter said. "The Center for Consumer Freedom's offer is very generous and timely in meeting the needs of our county while sticking to our principles."

PETA has a long history of financially and philosophically supporting the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) and Animal Liberation Front (ALF), organizations that the FBI has labeled "the largest and most active U.S.-based terror group." Since 1996, ELF and ALF have caused more than $43 million in property damage resulting from over 600 attacks including arson, assault and massive vandalism.

No. It wouldn't surprise me. My first post on the subject was that it sounded like something CCF would be involved in, because it fits too perfectly with their recent petakillsanimals campaign.

I was just reading on Veggie Boards:

http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/showthread.php?p=942081#post942081

There are also many other action alerts and updates about various issues addressed by PETA in North Carolina. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but PETA has also blown the whistle on lots of farm animal abuse in North Carolina, which would make PETA a big target for Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF), a lobbyist group disguised as a non-profit.

The corporations who contribute to CCF certainly have a lot to lose in North Carolina, which is one of the top poultry and pork producing states:

4. The CCF works for corporate Amerika......
...to do their dirty work on advocacy groups....like MADD, which has also been the recipient of CCF's dirty campaigns..."Soccer Moms by Day, Terrorists by night" comes to mind. They protect the liquor industry by fighting laws that lower blood alcohol limits for DUI's.

CCF is also against raising the minimum wage! "It will destroy our country...nevermind those hardworking people who can't make a living wage.

Dirty rotten bastards!!!!! ACCCKKK!

On a related issue, if you're familiar with the organization NAIA, they enjoy financial support from the AKC! So the AKC keeps their hands squeaky clean. If you've ever been on an Animal Rights debate board, the breeder spin is that the AKC is *only* a registry! Ha! They pay a lobbyist 80k a year to protect "breeders' rights".

The American people are so gullible. Especially that the CCF is building ONE shelter in a depressed area where they shouldn't even be breeding children, much less more disposable pets. Wonder if those citizens know about the CCF and the min. wage? Heh.

7. Yes
Thanks for posting the info, shockra. The article I read it in was a .pdf so I couldn't cut and paste the relevant parts and it was such a nasty little piece of trash that I didn't even want to post the link. But there you go. :)

2. At least now we know who bought and paid for the animal control
folks that turned on PETA. Big shock.

3. One new animal shelter...wow, problem solved!
I can't stand the CCF, and I can't stand that they masquerade around as though they care about animal rights. It reminds me of Bush pretending he cares about the poor.

Center for Consumer Freedom Exposed
and Other Opposition Groups

The Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) (formerly called the "Guest
Choice Network") is a front group for the restaurant, alcohol and
tobacco industries. It runs media campaigns which oppose the efforts
of scientists, doctors, health advocates, environmentalists and
groups like Mothers Against Drunk Driving, calling them "the Nanny
Culture -- the growing fraternity of food cops, health care
enforcers, anti-meat activists, and meddling bureaucrats who 'know
what's best for you. For more detailed information, please visit:

Expose of Richard Berman of the Center for Consumer Freedom:

"While Berman presents himself as a defender of consumers against
overbearing bureaucrats and health zealots, he's really defending
the interests of another group: restaurant chains, food and beverage
companies, meat producers, and others who stand to see profits
hampered by government regulations, or even by increased health
awareness on the part of customers."

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics Blast the Center for Consumer

"Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed a
complaint with the Internal Revenue Service alleging that the Center
for Consumer Freedom has violated its tax exempt status."
