I'm getting sick of the "these hunters have to make a living" excuses, not to mention "it's legal" (produce political Ca.gov statement link *here*)

I fookin' know it's LEGAL, is that a reason to trust any government that SEZ SO ? Why we're in Iraq ? Hey, does Canada have troops in Iraq, or are they all out on those Ice Floes?

1. You know what I don't get?

People keep saying "Oh, it's no different from killing cows and the seals are only getting the attention because they're cute."

I don't understand why the assumption is that if it's the same as what we do to cows, then it's okay. Why don't people go in the other direction: if that's the same as what we do to cows, then maybe what we do to cows isn't okay either?

Is it just a mindset thing? I truly don't understand this.

Let them discuss the difference between the slaughterhouse and the ice floes. If one person gets it, the discussion is well worth the time.

Thank you so much for posting this. Te CBS photo essay was heartbreaking, but needs to be out there for all to see. I love the picture of the seal "posing" for the photographer on the ice, and the one with the lone seal looking at the carcasses of the other seals is just too sad for words!

I am tired of all the excuses, too. This is not a frickin' "hunt", it's a massacre :grr:
