TAMPA - What a hoot watching Arnold Schwarzenegger try to corral a class of little kids in the movie ``Kindergarten Cop.''

Makes you wonder if it would be as funny if you showed up at preschool to find your 4-year-old taught by a man.

The guys who are in that job say they know what you might think.

``They always give you a different look,'' says Johnny Haynes. ``I tell them I've got two girls at home I know exactly how I feel about my kids.''

An All-America college wrestler, former high school teacher and Army veteran, Haynes now cares for preschoolers at the Child Development Center on Tampa's MacDill Air Force Base, where his wife is stationed. He has worked in centers on military bases for 14 years.

Men Recently Hired

The MacDill Child Development Center is one of hundreds of providers already registered for state-funded prekindergarten. Two men beside Haynes recently were hired at the facility

1. My kid's K teacher was male

A positive experience. The teacher's demeanor reminded me of the late Mr. Rogers. I looked forward to volunteering in the classroom to see what projects they were working on the things they were learning. The great thing was he taught us parents some really cool craft projects!!!
