SCIENCE DEBATE - 14 Questions and the candidates' responses
Ha, ha! Made you look!

(Cross posted (by accident) to GD:P and posted to GD, but that was where I meant to post it originally)

Obama responded to all 14 questions here.

Obama answered questions from the group calling itself Science Debate 2008. Starting with 3,400 questions, Science Debate 2008 crafted the 14 "debate" questions on the following subjects:
innovation,
climate change,
energy,
education,
national security,
pandemics and biosecurity,
genetics research,
stem cells,
ocean health,
water (potable),
space,
scientific integrity,
research
and health.

According to Science Debate 2008, "John McCain has said he will also answer the questions." Of course, I fully expect Admiral McCombover to answer with a stern, "For five and a half years I didn't have science and technology."

1. Obama's answers are right on target
all the more reason we need him in the White House come January 29.

3. I wonder what would happen if someone asked a question about metrication on national TV?
Somebody, probably from one of the national science organizations, asked Obama and McCain about whether they would support a switch to metric. That would be a fun one to get people talking about!

4. This statement in the answer to num 12 alone is reason to be hopeful about Obama
"I will restore the basic principle that government decisions should be based on the best- available, scientifically-valid evidence and not on the ideological predispositions of agency officials or political appointees."
