Seriously though it seems to me those would be the most interesting places a clear 'boundary' location.

5. I voted for the poles, too. I would go with the North one, which I think is more water ice
The south is more CO2. Or it could be the other way around?

is what I thought, a quick check on wiki states that the CO2 in the south is there on a more permanent basis where it fluctuates in the north with the seasons.
