I would like to relate to a positive experience relative to my health care provider. My provider is Kaiser Permanente and earlier this week I contacted them to schedule surgery to repair a hernia condition. My Primary Physician discovered the hernia about a year ago and he sent me to a specialist for confirmation. the specialist gave me two options; to wear a truss for control, or for surgery. I chose the truss, which my Primary Physician promptly told me,was a piece of junk. Except for a slight bulge in my lower left abdomen, I have not experienced any pain associated with the hernia in the intervening year. In recent months, however, I began to lose mobility and experienced difficulty bending over and pain when tying my left shoe. I believe that the hernia has shifted lower to my groin area and is the cause for the pain and loss of mobility. Thus my call to Kaiser.
Today a representative from Kaiser called and advised me that I am scheduled for surgery on June 18. she also scheduled me for an appointment with my Primary Physician in May and with the surgeon a week before the surgery. I asked her, what this would cost and she told me that my copay would be $50. Although,I suspect that the two visits prior to surgery will involve $15 each, The total cost is more then fair, and Kaiser is to be commended for their promptness and their concern.
