Vitamin E 'may ward off decline'

Researchers found people aged over 65 who had lower levels of vitamin E performed worse on tests of basic physical ability.

The key may be that vitamin E is an antioxidant, protecting the body's issues from damage caused by charged particles called free radicals.

The Yale University School of Medicine study appears in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

While the researchers found an association between vitamin E and performance, their work suggested no such link with other essential vitamins, such as folate, B6, B12 and D.

2. Important facts missing
The article doesn't talk about the eight different biologically active forms of vitamin E which natural foods carry. Different vitamin E supplements offer some of these different mixtures.

Vitamin E, as well as folate and other B vitamins, are naturally found in wheat germ, which is removed in the grain refinement process to make white flour.

(Note to moderators: I have not made any particular endorsements here.)

this wasn't a study of whether or not vitamin E supplementation helps. It could be a biomarker,even........although, I agree, there are different forms of vitamin E, and some are probably more efficacious than others. This study is mentioning the correlation, not any supplementation.
