Somebody suggest a cheap, safe alternative to Crestor
I'll be losing my health insurance soon, and won't be able to afford it. *sigh*

2. Don't know where you are located
but you can get generic statin drugs in Mexico very reasonably. The one I take is atorvastatin. Not available in U.S. as a generic. Some of the statins may be available as generics. Check online at drugstore.com.

4. Zetia is another (non-statin) approach, but still not cheap
See http://www.citizen.org/publications/release.cfm?ID=7341 for critiques of statin drugs from Public Citizen (especially note what it says for Crestor...)

5. Can you go to www.needymeds.org and see if the manufacturer
has a program to get you the meds? With some companies, you can make $50,000 a year and still get assistance. Others are more like $25,000.

6. Check into the Partnership for Prescription Assistance.
Edited on Thu Oct-12-06 07:26 PM by mcscajun
Astra-Zeneca, the manufacturer of Crestor, is a participant in this program, along with nearly all the major pharaceuticals houses.

Your doctor needs to complete part of the form, you complete the rest, and you can either get low-cost or free medication. Check into the details of the Partnership here: https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php

DUers, pass this link along. :)
