Oklahoma Lawmakers Want Ban On Gay Books
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/03/032905book.htm

Oklahoma state legislators are calling a popular children's book about a gay prince "obscene" and saying it should reserved only for adults.

Seventy members of the legislature have signed a petition calling for the book to be removed from the children’s section and placed in the adult section of libraries.

The book, Prince and Prince, has been under attack by conservatives in several states for nearly two years. In the book, by Linda De Haan and Stern Nijland, Prince Bertie searches for love through a bevy of eligible princes before falling for Prince Lee. The 32 page book ends with the two princes sharing a kiss.

1. so if they have a problem with the "obscenity" of a kiss
then get a version without the kiss.

Clearly they have a problem with someone being different - the "obscene" kiss is just secondary.

We get the message. If you are gay you will not be allowed to be happy. To be happy and gay is to be immoral and obscene. Great message to tell your gay kids -

Here's a message: if I have a gay kid and that book isn't in the library there will be hell to pay because you're ignoring the needs of my family.

2. unfortunately in that area, it doesn't quite work that way
the "moral outrage" of the majority in these places always outweigh the needs of the minority

(In other news, the government has stepped in to investigate what appears to be a statistical cluster of unexplained arch conservative assplosions in rural _________. First they said it, then they did it.)

5. Can you store the books safely in a closet?
Or...

Is an openly gay book still a gay book when it is closed?

Or...

Can a gay book be reformed in a later edition or printing?
