What's next on the protest agenda, you ask?

With the huge success of Jointheimpact.com and tomorrow's turnout (expected to be biggest EVER protest organized by our community), and with the boycotts getting so much attention, it is CRUCIAL we keep the pressure on those who should and will be held accountable for violating the constitutional rights of GLBTIQ persons in CA, AZ, FL and AR.

Next up is a "Call in Gay Day"...aka "A Day Without Gay"

All GLBTIQ's and their friends, families and supporters are urged to stay home or refrain from work on December 10, 2008, a day which coincides with International Human Rights day. The impact to this country's economy will be massive and it WILL make all those who are apathetic or disconnected from what is going on to America's GLBTIQs will have no choice but to notice. This is classic MLK and Gandhi strategy of hitting the oppressors where it hurts most: their pockets.

it's ok- i'm gay- i can make the politically incorrect gay jokes. as for me, i'm self-employed, so i guess i'll give myself the day off! but i'l go one better, i won't spend any money that day- in fact, everyone should refrain from spending any gay dollars that day.

So I won't even have to call in. I don't plan on spending any money either that day. I won't be able to participate in the protests tomorrow so I'm glad I'm able to do this!

Some babies are born with indeterminate genitalia - the doctor cannot at a glance determine whether the baby is the traditional boy or girl, due to everything from chromosone differences to androgen insensitivity. It's been usual to just assign a gender and then mutilate the child by surgery to get it to fit that gender category, causing many such children to grow up feeling they are the wrong gender. There's a growing trend, fortunately, to postpone any such surgeries until the child can decide for themselves what they want to do.
