They voted to advance it.

In Massachusetts, of course. However it appears their also trying to unvote that vote. o_O Check out 365gay.com for the story.

Keep your fingers crossed.

I've heard people say time and time again, also from friends in Massachusetts, that if it was put to the polls it wouldn't pass. Anyone know the statistics supporting and opposing?

Edit. The proposted ballot question to ban same-marriage rights in Massachusetts. :\

3. "The polls" have always underestimated the anti-gay vote.
It's happened in every state.

4. The fallout from today may be major.
I'd love to be wrong, but my prediction is that today's vote means we're going to lose the one and only state with gay marriage.

This nearly ensures that MASS residents *will* have a chance to UNDO gay marriage in 2008. And they'll take that chance and run with it. We're fucked for another generation.

6. I'm not so sure.

I've heard repeated residents say that marriage equality is supported by a lot of people now in that state and that polls after polls have shown that people oppose banning it in a majority. Could someone point out any of those polls? I've heard them from people here and I've heard them from friends that live in Massachusetts, anyone got anything?

Hopefully it can still be road blocked, and if it goes to the ballott hopefully they vote it down.

7. Hopefully you're right...
...and the fight must go on regardless... But I'm looking down the line at two years from now, and as they say in the movies...

"I've got a bad feeling about this."

8. Then help support my initiative
(see the link in my sig)

If we can get this initiative on the ballot in Washington, we can force the state Supreme Court to overturn their ruling in support of the state's "Defense" of Marriage Act and thus overturn DOMA (if it passes) or hold it up as a referendum against the ruling and demand the court rethink their decision (if it fails.)
