Robinson Rejects Romney's Call for Federal Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment

BROCKTON, MA (OCTOBER 25, 2006) -- Jack E. Robinson, Republican candidate for Congress in the Massachusetts Ninth Congressional District, today rejected Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney's call for a federal constitutional amendment banning gay marriage - issued in response to today's decision by the New Jersey Supreme Court.

"I categorically reject Gov. Romney's call for a federal constitutional amendment banning gay marriage," said Robinson. "As the congressman from the 9th District, I would vote against any such attempt to enshrine bigotry and discrimination into our federal charter."

"Our last constitutional amendment, the 27th (affecting congressional pay raises), was adopted in 1992. As a free republic that values the liberties of its private citizens, we should think long and hard before adopting another (as we learned with Prohibition)."

1. as we learned with Prohibition
As we learned from Prohibition? I would offer that we learned nothing from prohibition. It's been what 70 some years now and we still haven't learned a society cannot legislate morality, no matter how many police they have.

How tediously predictable. Yes...the same Federal Marriage Amendment that has been defeated every damn time it's been introduced? And one good thing if the Democrats take control of Congress (which I fervently wish will happen) is that this hateful piece of constitutional gay bashing will NOT come up for a vote again.

As least Robinson understands not codifying bigotry into the Constitution.

3. I could almost vote for Robinson, even though he's a Repuke.
He has some interesting points about Iraq, is pro-gun, against the federal anti-gay amendment (doesn't mention the STATE amendment, though!) is semi-pro-choice and in favor of stemcell research.

ON THE OTHER HAND, Robinson:

Has some INSANE positions on taxes
Wants to privatize social security
Wants to drill in The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
Is against "amnesty-like" immigration programs
Wants to use tax dollars to fund religious schools

seriously. Jack E. Robinson is a looneytarian. A dyed-in-the-wool Libertarian who hates government, period. If he had his way there'd be mayhem and chaos caused by no central or state government. A lunatic. He's a sad case who also-ran against Ted Kennedy and made an ass of himself doing so. The press made mincemeat outa Robinson when it revealed that Jack E. Robinson had http://tinyurl.com/tpl8t">allegations of domestic violence and plagiarism against him (scroll down to last paragraph in this Kennedy article).

This guy doesn't deserve to be mentioned AT ALL as a viable candidate, despite being the alternate (albeit Republican) choice against that ass Stephen F. Lynch (who is a social rightwing Republican in Democratic Party clothes).

________________________________

edited to add more negative stuff about Jack E. Robinson:

"In 2000 (when Robinson was running for Massachusetts Secretary of State as a Republican), then-Governor Paul Cellucci (R, Massachusetts) refused to endorse Robinson, whose campaign took a hit when he released his famous 'Robinson Report' describing a drunken driving arrest and accusations of sexual assault."
" 'Some of his positions and antics are just unacceptable to me,' said the state Senate's Republican leader, Brian P. Lees. 'I didn't endorse him before, and I'm not going to endorse him now.' "

5. Oh. Well, in light of that, you're absolutely right
But there sure seem to be a lot of people who are pro-wife-beater with Robinson signs on their lawns.

Republickers will vote for anyone with an "R" next to their name.
