A gay rights organization is auctioning off a Hummer
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 12:36 PM by IanDB1
Or rather, a 2-year lease on a Hummer H3.

Granted, it's just one of several item they're auctioning off.

But I, for one, refuse to participate in the auction at all so long as they're promoting that gross display of environmental irresponsibility.

I sent them an email to that effect, and I'll see how they reply.

1. I agree
The environment is already being destroyed, we don't need to make it worse.

My 100th post!

There are gay men and lesbians who would love to own that Hummer. We're not all angels...there are some crass and materialistic gay people as well as progressive thinking ones like us.

5. Do you know how much a fuelcell or electric vehicle costs?
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 12:42 PM by IanDB1
It costs more than a Hummer.

Now THAT would be status symbol!

"Hey, look at me! I paid $80,000 for a car that doesn't pollute the environment!"

"I am SO fabulously wealthy, I can afford to protect the environment more than YOU can!"

"Look at my super-expensive solar panels on my roof!"

8. Exactly!
To you wealthy A-list gay men and lesbians out there...you can be responsible environmentally AND keep up that fabulous way of living. :-)

14. I've taught my daughter to wave her pinky at Hummers
I told her that's how you say hello to a Onceler.

13. I'm not gonna tell you, because...
1) I don't want to bad-mouth them.
2) I don't want to promote the auction.

15. I was thinking about something different.

Considering they are talking about another kind of Hummer, here is my $.02 worth. That kind of Hummer is for tiny minded straight guys who haven't figured out the value of female oral arts yet. Either that or they are in too big of a hurry. O8)

17. It doesn't bother me.
If you can afford it and the gas, the go enjoy yourself. Sheesh.

Where I live, there are a lot of cars which eat up just as much gas as the H3.

There are much more important things to worry about right now.

18. Oh lame.
As much as I wish there weren't, there are a lot of Log Cabin Republicans out there.

I guess it makes financial sense for the gay rights organization to use a hummer because they're probably so cheap now, people are tired of paying for all that gas and trading them all in now.

21. Okay..haters...
For people who don't like being judged, you guys are sure quick to hate on others. In terms of fuel economy the Hummer (17) no worse than an Ford Freestar Wagon (17) or a GMC Savana (14) (www.fueleconomy.gov). By far the worse is the Jeep Grand Cherokee (12). So why don't you let people who love whomever they like.. drive whatever they like. It's just the commute, put on some music and relax.

22. That's the Hummer H3. The H2 gets 8mpg.
Also, they're wrong about the Grand Cherokee. They get 16-17mpg average.

24. "Quick to hate on others"?
I don't hate anybody who drives a Hummer. I think Hummer drivers are incredibly selfish, and don't give a damn about the environment, and I expect many of them have very small penises, but I don't hate them.

Now, seriously, you're actually comparing LGBT equality to the right to drive whatever you want? I have to ask, because I think you forgot to add a :sarcasm: smiley.

Now, if you want to marry your Hummer, well, see, there I must object. Motor vehicles, after all, cannot enter into a legally binding contract.

why on EARTH would they do that? I can't think of anyone I know who doesn't think those things are the stupidest, most pretentious, environmentally wasteful POS on the road.
