http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/01/012606indyRts.htmA bill that would have overturned LGBT civil rights laws in seven Indiana municipalities, including Indianapolis, has been withdrawn following a noisy session of the legislature.
The proposal would have limited local human rights ordinances only to those areas protected by state or federal law.
Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) had tried to tack the measure onto an eminent domain bill. The move prompted anger from both sides of the aisle and House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) abruptly adjourned the House on Tuesday night to prevent a vote.
Wednesday, following pressure from GOP leaders Thompson announced he was withdrawing the measure. But, he warned he intended to bring it back in another form.
