New Military Publication Signals Shift In Attitude Toward Gays
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/01/011706military.htm

A new four-volume series on the cultural and psychological dimensions of American military life includes, for the first time, a chapter on the open service of gay troops.

The chapter, in Military Life: The Psychology of Serving in Peace and Combat, describes social and institutional changes needed to lift the ban on openly gay service members in the U.S. armed forces.

The inclusion of the topic in a publication endorsed by major military scholars is seen as a reflection of a shifting landscape on the question of military service by gays.

An Annenberg Survey reported in October that half of junior enlisted personnel and their families support allowing gays to serve. And in 2003, FOX News reported 64 percent support for allowing gays to serve.

1. If you're gay, don't serve. Start an all-gay mercenary company instead

Mercenaries make ten times the money and get to choose which wars they fight in.

Call it "Pinkwater Consulting."

The real reason they don't want gays in the military is because they don't want gay people learning how to arm and defend themselves.

3. I miss Barry Goldwater
I really do--he is one of the few conservatives that I truly repected

4. In 64 he was a radical
30 years later he endorsed a Democrat for congress in Arizona. Shows you what happened to the republican party.

6. It is always thus.
In wartime, when military recruitment drops or a draft is installed, homosexuality becomes relatively unimportant.

In peacetime, when a military job is a job that the heterosexuals want, that the homosexuals are more hunted.

The only surprising aspect of this admin is that it continued to cashier homosexuals for so long after it was clear that the US needed them to prosecute the war(s).

7. yeah and an acknowledgement that the "ban" ain't working
as any soldier of any stripe can tell you.

we've been there since the beginning of time - a few dumbfucks in the 21st century with dreams of bigotry aren't going to change the facts.
