Anti-Gay AFA Turns Sights On NBC

The American Family Association is urging its members to flood NBC with letters denouncing the network's new series "The Book of Daniel" which will feature primetime's only openly gay male characters.

The series is planned to debut January 6 at 9:00 pm E/P time.

"The Book of Daniel" stars Aidan Quinn (“An Early Frost”) as the Reverend Daniel Webster (pictured) an unconventional Episcopalian minister who not only believes in Jesus - he actually sees him and discusses life with him.

His children include Peter (Christian Campbell, “Trick”), a 23-year-old gay son, who struggles with the loss of his twin brother. To confound matters even more, Peter is a Republican.

3. Saw This Coming - The First Time I Saw The Promo

for this new show - I knew immediately the Christian wingnuts weren't going to sit back and let this happen in primetime. It will be interesting to see if NBC caves on this - surely they saw this coming.

I am very surprised and delighted that NBC has decided to air "The Book of Daniel." I know that AFA is launching a call to action email and telephone campaign to barage your network and underwriters with

complaints and "outrage", I implore you to remain courageous and ignore their bigotted complaints.

There are MILLIONS of Americans who do not subscribe to the brainwashed fundelmentalists mind think - and I am one such individual who feels extremely oppressed by the Fascists Christian Fundelmentalists in this country whose sole mission is about imposing their beliefs and views on me (and every other American)whether through this nations laws or what I watch on tv.

The Christian-Fascists are about waging war all over the globe upon people who do not believe what they do.

Igniting Fear and Hate and Fascism is against the very core principles of our nation, as the founders envisaged.

I implore NBC to encourage the broadcast of this program and others like it throughout the country in order to provide a diversity of programming so lacking in the media today, as it has become an obsesssion of the Christo-Fascists movement, to impose their ideology on all Americans - our First Amendement rights protects me from Freedom From Regligioisty as well as it protects freedom to worship - in the privacy of their own homes and churches.

The AFA is now trying to organize a boycott of potential advertisers. I sent my edited email urging advertisers to sponsor the show.

I imagine AFA won't like the editing, but I certainly encouraged NBC to continue to

I have yet to see an AFA boycott that had any effect other than boosting the bottom line of the company being boycotted. Their four year boycott of Disney was one of the most profitable period in Disney's history.
