Indianapolis Businesses Scramble Over New Gay Rights Law
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon05/12/122605indyRts.htm

Businesses throughout Indianapolis are rushing to make sure their employee regulations comply with a new non-discrimination ordinance protecting the rights of LGBT workers.

The ordinance was passed December 20 and ban discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in the areas of employment, education, public accommodations, and housing.( story) It was signed by Mayor Bart Peterson on Christmas Eve and went into immediate effect.

"The majority of employers in Indianapolis will find they need to revise their policies," Michael Blickman, a labor and employment attorney told the Indianapolis Star.

"While some employers have prohibited sexual orientation discrimination, I am confident that very few - perhaps only a handful - include gender identity as a protected category."

1. Fortunate Enough to Work for Progressive Company
that has very strong policies including protections for GLBTs. Contrary to what some believe many Indianapolis corporations support stronger protections so the Republicans better wake up and get on the right side of this issue. Many businesses are enhancing and toughening their policies and are serious about diversity initiatives because it's makes for good business.

2. Yeah, I bet the Indy employers are panickining to accomidate....
T's in the workplace. These guys are the most hard up, closed minded, 'people' youl'd ever want to meet. The only way this passed in Indianapolis is that most of the people for the bill and passing this bill are 'T's' or close to it. Believe me, they are closited as well! No talking names in public honey, or watch this bill go away!
