Newt Gingrich Suggests Gay Marriage To Blame For Economic Woes
http://ontopmag.com/article.aspx?id=9227&MediaType=1&Category=26

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has suggested gay marriage is to blame for America's economic woes.

In a radio interview on Catholic Radio San Diego to pitch his book A Nation Like No Other, his short film Nine Days that Changed the World, and his wife Callista Gingrich's upcoming children's book Sweet Land of Liberty, host Charles Limandri asked Gingrich why he believed “radical secularists” are attacking the family.

“The concept of family being between man and woman and the concept of all these core values that grow out of 3,000 years of Judeo-Christian tradition,” Gingrich answered. “This is a direct threat to the entire secular world.”

“We're becoming increasingly secular, the family is under attack and economically we're experiencing woes like we've never known in our history it seems. So what is the connection here?” Limandri asked.

“You have to recognize that free enterprise is based on free people and … free people are based on faith,” Gingrich replied. “The very basis of our belief and freedom is that we believe we are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights. The very source of our strength is that we believe these are truths – not theories, not ideologies, not gimmicks, not political consultants, powerpoints – truths, and so there's a core absolute overlap between free enterprise, freedom and freedom of faith. And if you don't have freedom of faith in the end you're not going to have free enterprise because there's no moral force that defends and protects you.”

5. His views and outlook are as rigid
as his wife's helmet hair. He is living in the 19th century; somehow skipped the 20th.

6. Things must be frustrating for Newt
The ego of the man, who fell from conservatives' good graces after being in the limelight for a few years back in the 90s... His "randiness" that puts Clinton's to shame. His attitude that so many republicans have like Dole, McCain, etc. that it's his turn, and if he doesn't take it, then he can't go out on top like he's always wanted... All of that gnawing at him while the strategy he thought was a winning one - sucking up to the religious right - isn't getting him anywhere. I give him props for trying, but Newt was never a religious man - for lack of a better term, he's a futurist, a technocrat, a quasi-wonk (although not a very good one of any of those labels). "Future Shock," is where he gets his gospel - not the Bible. He can parrot religious right talking points and believes that by making gays the cause of everything from the bad economy to 100 degree weather in Oklahoma, he can fool them, but there are code words and phrases understood only by the religiously insane that successful republican candidates since Reagan have used to get the religious nutjobs behind them. Reagan was good at it. GHW Bush not so much. Bush II, yes. Newt, no. Even so, he wouldn't be able to understand them at a deep enough level to fool them.

And this unfathomable situation is probably maddening to him as he sees the last thing that could redeem him slipping away, and I couldn't think of worse bastard that deserves it.

7. I think he means "the concept of family being between man and successive women".
Preferably with the women getting younger and hotter each time.

9. I am so glad gay marriage is destroying things. Could have been bad for him if it was
multiple marriages and divorces.
