Tracy Morgan Meets with LGBT Homeless Youth

NewsCore) - Comedian Tracy Morgan met with LGBT homeless youth in New York Friday, as the "30 Rock" star tries to mend relations following his homophobic rant during a comedy routine.

"Today, Tracy saw firsthand the toll that homophobia and anti-gay violence can take on a person's life," Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) President Jarrett Barrios said in a statement.

"By meeting with LGBT teens left homeless because of who they are, we hope that Tracy has come to understand that so-called 'jokes' about gay youth are not just irresponsible, they are damaging," the statement added.

Morgan's visit is part of his road to redemption after he said being "gay was something kids learn from the media and programming" and that "gays needed to quit being p*ssies and not be whining about something as insignificant as bullying," during a show June 3 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.

Morgan, 42, added that if his son was gay "he better come home and talk to him like a man" or he would "pull out a knife and stab" him to death.

Once the comments were made public, the former "SNL" cast member swiftly apologized after being chastised for preaching hate.

Following his engagements in New York, Morgan will travel to Tennessee June 21 to apologize to audience members he offended at his earlier show and will meet with local gay rights advocates.

He will also film a public service announcement for an upcoming GLAAD ad campaign against bullying.

"I guess the reason I am successful is because I am so unfiltered," Morgan told hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons in an interview about his comedic career, adding, "Sometimes as a result I say really stupid sh*t."

Some will hate you publicly... while others smile, and hate you privately..... but never confuse the fact, that both groups despise you with equal intensity....
