Without commenting on the merits of the caveman threads
I do think it bears mentioning that the moderation of DU has been a topic of discussion in this forum with Skinner's OK. If that is no longer the case, then I think he needs to say it is no longer the case and not have threads shut down which in point of fact, were partially solicited by him in this forum. I apologize for this being hit and run but I have to leave and wanted this to be seen by the moderator who shut down the other two threads. I think the two idea threads were invitations for comments on moderating.
1. Strictly speaking, it's just Skinner's two threads...
We're not touching any comments in them, so if you want to flame away at the mods that's the best place to do it. Granted the 'fences' thread is now a bit large to follow, but the 'ideas' thread should still be manageable.
Having said that we're happy enough to let this thread stand for now for constructive suggestions- just be aware that we're watching you like hawks. ;)
2. Thanks - and again (or for the first time if I didn't already), I apologize.
I apologize to the forum and to the mods and Skinner for calling out earlier. I need to exercise more self-control, and just walk away when I feel myself getting wound up.
We know it can get a little fustrating - to put it mildly - especially when the mods' decision isn't what you'd like (for a post or an alert). Hence the current look for new ways of doing things...
For the record, if you do feel like a quick vent at the mods or the admins and don't want to have it lost in Skinner's two threads, we'd suggest using Ask the Admins rather than GLBT.
