Watching "Out and Proud in Chicago".
And have been watching all the docs I can find so I'm not a pain to my friends. So far, "The Castro", "After Stonewall", "Call Me Troy", "The Celluloid Closet", and one more about people in the armed services from WWII, can't remember the title.

What else is good? Any recommendations? :hi:

1. I don't understand - are you looking for books about gay history?
Or films? Or both, lol?

2. Documentaries. I'm really enjoying watching people recount
their stories and on the way, learning a bit about the last fifty years or so.

4. I think a film was made of "The Naked Civil Servant",
Quentin Crisp's autobiography. That would be worthwhile, I think I recall seeing that on PBS a few years ago.

8. Docs: "Word is Out" is good.

Late seventies... so it's a little dated. But so am I. The filmmakers knew what they were doing and it was first of it's kind. May be hard to find by now... come to think of it.

Also: The Life and Times of Harvey Milk. Much better than the Sean Penn drama, although that was ok too.

9. I did see "The Life and Times" and got it mixed up with "The Castro".
I worked in City Hall as a translator when I was an embryo and Harvey was on the board. In those days, I was a commuting mom who was always tired so I didn't see anything that was happening around me. Even that day, I missed a lot because I had to catch a train down to the peninsula.

But "Word is Out" I've never heard of so thank you, Smarmie!
