16. I liked Steven Grossman, one of the first openly gay recording artists of the '70s.

He died, too young, of AIDS. I lost my copy of "Caravan Tonight" when the crackheads down the hall broke into my storage locker and ripped off all my vinyl recordings. I wish them upon themselves. Grossman is sort of folky, with obvious Joni Mitchell influences. Nice melodies, great lyrics. Recommended as a piece of LGBT history if for no other reason.

Both Matt and Jay write their own songs and thats part of their charm, but aren't exactly mainstream. If you're looking for mainstream - and I can't believe no one mentioned her - how about some LadyGaga? She's openly bisexual, extremely pro-LGBT, and in her music videos she shows she isn't afraid to highlight that she's a bisexual. After all, her famous song Poker Face is about her having sex with a guy while imagining she's with a woman instead.
