If Goldman Sachs' CEO Was Gay, Would DADT and DOMA Vanish?
Edited on Mon Oct-12-09 05:57 PM by MannyGoldstein
I just read:

"AP’s review of Geithner’s meetings during his first seven months in office showed he met more often with Citigroup officials than with Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA), who is leading the effort to approve Geithner’s plan for overhauling the financial system. The treasury secretary also spent more time talking to Lloyd Blankfein, chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs, than with Senator Christopher Dodd (D-CT), chairman of the Senate Banking Committee."

Pretty clear who the Obama administration works for!

So, it struck me: what if the head of Goldman Sachs or Citi Group was gay? Would that finally get some repulsive laws/policies changed?

2. Damn good question.
Given the inordinate amount of influence GS has on our government, both in Congress and the administration, I think DADT and DOMA would at least be further up the list of priorities.

3. I doubt it.
Anyone that wealthy can pretty much write their own ticket. CEO's of investment firms aren't usually big on social justice, are they?

4. Why would it?
He's rich enough to take care of his own, and doesn't want to join the army.

Right? :evilfrown:

5. It wouldn't matter.
First - DADT and DOMA don't affect their bottom line.

Second - Just like the right will never attempt to repeal Roe v. Wade because that is the only way they can get their base to the polls (and yes, I am speaking about members of my own family), they think DADT and DOMA will be the same for the left.

They don't know us very well. We aren't single-issue voters.
