Obama to be in LA next Wednesday - the day after the Prop 8 Decision
Good idea? Think he will actually say something?

If its not overturned I think he would be wise to reschedule his visit. LA has a very active protest community and he would not want to be put in the middle of that!

1. No. If it's not overturned, then he most definitely should be
there and speak strongly about equality. I hope he doesn't have to. I hope the SCOCA overturns 8. I have no idea what they're going to do.

2. He hasn't said a word about Iowa, Maine, etc.
I don't expect any words for this unless 8 is held up.

3. He made a joke about Iowa at the correspondent's dinner
so that, I guess, was the respect he afforded us.

6. he should stay away if it isn't overturned.
nothing he can say will make it any better -- and people have already been working on new props.

his luke warm response to the whole thing makes it worse in a way.

things will be hot -- but i strongly suspect not violent, no reasonable gay person expects them to overturn after the arguments --
but we will be a firestorm of political hotness.
