Just stopped by to recommend an interesting book...
It's called Fellow Traveler's and was written by Thomas Mallon...
I just picked it up a week or so ago and started to read it a few days back. It's about anti-communism in the early and mid fifties which is nicely underscored by examining the way Gay men had to live their lives on the edge back then while serving their country.
It's a smart book that probably tells us all a lot about how Gay men came to grips with their sexuality and how they dealt with life in the 50's.
It also examines the way politics operated in that most repressive decade.
And it can be very funny at times as well as tragic and, of course, inevitably heartbreaking as well.
